SINLOC INVESTS IN LABOGEST, BOLOGNA’S CITY MEDICAL ANALYSIS LABORATORY COMPLEX

Sinloc, together with other partners, has set up and invested in Labogest Srl, a Special Purpose Vehicle that has been entrusted by Bologna Local Health Authority, from 2013, with the construction and management of Bologna’s medical analysis laboratory complex and the renovation of the second and third floors of the Nuclear Medicine building of Bologna’s Ospedale Maggiore hospital.

The laboratory covers over 4 thousand m2 on 4 floors. By a total investment of approximately €8.4 million, Sinloc invested something like €1.9 million and owned a 70% stake in the company. The initiative is currently at management stage.

With the realization of the new laboratory of the Ospedale Maggiore in Bologna, the project contributes to the standardisation of the Italian medical laboratory network. In fact, the new laboratory represents the main hub of the Emilia Romagna network of laboratories- together with the laboratory located in Ferrara at Cona Hospital. These facilities will combine activities for external customers, throughout the reference areas, with specialised services for internal customers not performed in satellite labs.

Moreover, laboratory realization contributes to the development of integrated networks among National Healthcare Service laboratories, to the management of urgent lab analyses and to equality in patient access to services, as well as increasing and improving skills in the area of laboratories clinical governance, making improving technologies used and services efficiency possible.

Sinloc has been involved in the project not only as an investor, but also in preparing the project’s economic-financial plan and its contracts, in supporting the SPV by identifying the most appropriate sources of financing, and later in structuring and negotiating a loan with a leading bank.
