SINLOC IN BOLOGNA WITH THE INVESTMENT IN ISOM AND THE FIRST PROJECT BOND

On 20 October 2017 – with the participation of Sinloc’s top management (shown in the photo) – the new power plant and trigeneration plant of the S. Orsola Polyclinic was inaugurated in Chiantone main auditorium of the Bologna Polyclinic.

For plant construction, Sinloc set up the ISOM Project together with its partners Manutencoop and Siram, as a special purpose company to oversee the design, financing, implementation and management of the major renovation and energy efficiency improvement project in one of Italy’s largest hospital complexes.

The total investment amounted to € 31 million and supported the construction of the biggest hospital tri-generation plant – a mega power, thermal and refrigeration station – and requalification and efficiency improvements for the systems.

The project has provided such a significant performance gain for the plants, that the hospital’s energy regular consumption is expected to drop by 27%, resulting in a significant saving of public resources. In terms of polluting emissions, atmospheric emissions of CO2 are to be cut by 31%, the equivalent of turning off over three thousand boilers for a year…

This important investment was funded not only by the resources of its promoters, like Sinloc, but also by structuring and placing on the market the first project bond developed under Italian law. This innovative and complex financial solution was in particular due to Sinloc’s involvement.

The project won the CESEF Energy Efficiency Award 2015 in the finance category, the Public Heritage Best Practice Award at the 2017 PA Forum and has been chosen as a good practice at the Paris World Climate Conference.
